Your Pain Is Real.
Recovery Is Possible.
Recovering your life.
If you've been told to just manage your symptoms, there is another way. I help people move from managing chronic pain to actually recovering from it.
You've Tried Everything.
Nothing Has Lasted.
Back surgery, prolo-therapy, nerve ablations, neurofeedback. Homeopathy, energy work, acupuncture. Physio, chiropractic, osteopathy, massage. Maybe some of it helped for a while, but the pain always came back. You've needed the therapy just to maintain or mitigate pain flareups.
You've heard "it's all in your head" more than once. You're dealing with discouragement, feelings of isolation, thoughts like "I should be able to get past this" or "What's wrong with me?"
If you tend toward perfectionism, people-pleasing, or running at a high level of baseline anxiety, those patterns may be connected to your pain in ways no one has explained to you.
You've tried everything, but you've only been able to manage the symptoms. You may be skeptical of "just another treatment." You're reaching out as a last resort because nothing else has worked.
I get it. I've been there.

About
Hi, I'm Aaron.
I didn't choose chronic pain recovery as a specialty. It chose me. My own experience of living with persistent pain for over 25 years, and eventually recovering, led me to dedicate my practice to helping others find their way through.
I integrate Brainspotting with Pain Reprocessing Therapy. My PRT certification, combined with current training through Howard Schubiner's Freedom from Chronic Pain group, keeps me at the leading edge of this work.
I bring nearly 29 years of formal Tai Chi and meditation practice. As a clinician, I am highly skilled at my own regulation and have trained mind-body connectivity for decades using a formal and time-honoured system. This means I can be a trusted anchor during emotional and somatic processing.
I am able to help clients see beyond fear and doubt, which are major obstacles in the chronic pain recovery journey. My own recovery provides recognition and normalization of the challenges you face, along with genuine encouragement for overcoming them.
The Science
There Is Another Way
Modern neuroscience shows that chronic pain can be generated and maintained by learned neural pathways, not just by ongoing tissue damage. The pain is absolutely real. The source isn't always structural — often, it's neural.
The same brain that learned to produce pain can learn to stop.
As someone who recovered from chronic pain myself, I combine personal understanding with specialized clinical training to guide you through that process.

What I Treat
Chronic Pain & Related
Neuroplastic Conditions
Chronic pain rarely arrives alone. The Institute also treats related conditions that share the same underlying mechanism — learned neural circuit patterns — and respond to related clinical approaches.

The Institute also works with first responders and military personnel across these presentations as a subpopulation within the broader clinical scope.
What To Expect
Your First Session
We start by going through informed consent and addressing any questions you have about confidentiality, risks, and benefits of treatment. Then we explore your pain history and story, highlighting features of your life that contributed to pain persistence.
We often review early childhood experiences. If there are early traumas still affecting your life, we consider a plan for working through them in future sessions. The first session also aims to highlight your strengths, including self-soothing capacity and your internal models of care and compassion.
